Why 625
Inconel 625 combines high nickel-chromium with molybdenum and niobium to deliver outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking — even in hot chlorides and H₂S.
Subsea & Sour Service
Sub-sea umbilicals, riser clad pipes, choke bodies and christmas-tree components frequently specify 625 to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 — well beyond the limits of duplex 2205.
Fabrication Notes
Use matching ERNiCrMo-3 weld consumables and watch heat-input. Post-weld solution annealing is rarely required, simplifying field welding.
Cost Justification
When unplanned downtime exceeds USD 1M/day, the 4–6× material premium pays back in months of avoided shutdowns.
